What is Percentage ?

Percentage is a way of expressing a fraction or proportion out of 100. It is commonly used to compare quantities or to express change over time. Percentages are denoted by the symbol "%".

If you have a quantity and you want to express what portion of it another quantity represents, you use percentages.

For example, if you have scored 15 out of total 20 marks, then to find out 15 represent what percentage of 20 :

Percentage = Part / Whole x 100
Percentage = 15 / 20 x 100 = 75%

So, 15 marks represent 75% of the total 20 marks.
