What is a Circle ?

A circle is a geometric shape that consists of all points in a plane that are equidistant from a fixed point called the center. The distance from the center to any point on the circle is called the radius, and the longest distance across the circle, passing through the center, is called the diameter.

The perimeter of a circle is commonly referred to as its circumference. To calculate the circumference (C) of a circle, you can use the formula:

C = 2πr

where:

  • A is the perimeter of the circle
  • π (pi) is a mathematical constant approximately equal to 3.14159265359
  • r is the radius of the circle

If you know the diameter (d), you can also calculate the circumference using the formula:

C = πd

where:

  • A is the perimeter of the circle
  • π (pi) is a mathematical constant approximately equal to 3.14159265359
  • d is the diameter of the circle
