What is a Trapezoid ?

A trapezoid is a quadrilateral (four-sided polygon) with at least one pair of parallel sides. The parallel sides are called the bases of the trapezoid, and the distance between the bases is the height. Trapezoids can have equal or unequal lengths for their bases.

To calculate the perimeter (P) of a trapezoid, you add up the lengths of all four sides.

P = b1+b2+c+d

where:

  • P is the perimeter of the parallelogram
  • b1 and b2 are the lengths of the bases
  • c and d the lengths of the legs

To find the perimeter, you add length of bases and sides together.
