Byte Per Second (Bps) - Definition and Overview

Bps unit of measurement used to express the rate at which data is transferred from one location to another in a data network.

When data transfer rates are expressed in Byte Per Second, it means that the amount of data being transferred is measured in terms of Bytes over a period of one Second.

Byte is a unit of digital information that most commonly consists of eight bits. A single byte can be used to represent 256 different values. 1000 bytes = 1 Kilobyte (KB). 1024 bytes = 1 Kibibyte (KiB).

Gigabit Per Day (Gbit/Day) - Definition and Overview

Gbit/Day unit of measurement used to express the rate at which data is transferred from one location to another in a data network.

When data transfer rates are expressed in Gigabit Per Day, it means that the amount of data being transferred is measured in terms of Gigabits over a period of one Day.

One Gigabit is equal to 10^9 or 1000^3 Bits. Gigabit is a decimal unit defined as per SI standard. 1 Gigabit = 1000 Megabits. The unit symbol for Gigabit is Gbit or Gb. Gigabit is not same as Gibibit (Gib) that contains 1024^3 bits. 1000 Gigabits = 1 Terabit (Tbit).

How to Convert Byte to Gigabit?

1 Byte is equal to 0.0006912 Gigabit. To convert Byte to Gigabit, use this simple formula:

Gigabit = Byte x 0.0006912

So, just multiply the number of Byte by 0.0006912 to get equivalent value in Gigabit.

Example 1:

Convert 5 Byte to Gigabit
5 x 0.0006912 = 0.003456 Gigabit

Example 2:

Convert 7.5 Byte to Gigabit
7.5 x 0.0006912 = 0.005184 Gigabit
